About Orchard Scurry Team

Former Show Jumper Chris Orchard and her husband Paul had always enjoyed watching Scurry Driving at the county shows and at Horse Of the Year Show (HOYS). In July 1999 Paul (a keen photographer) gave some of the scurry drivers the photos he had taken and got chatting to scurry driver Bill Hundley (now retired) of Rycroft School of Equitation. Bill said to Chris, ‘if you can ride you can drive’ and he offered to show her. He was right and by September “Touch & Go” had been purchased, a scurry carriage bought from Bellcrown Carriages, and the harness had been made. After lessons from Bill over the winter teaching Chris to drive & Paul to groom, Chris & Paul found themselves at their first Scurry Driving competition at Devon County Show in May 2000 and they have not looked back since.

Orchard Scurry Team are: Chris Orchard, Paul Orchard, Mark Skippon, Gill Rockley and John & Anne Giles. Behind the scenes are Josie Hitchcock who takes care of everything at home when the team are on the road and Eileen Rowlinson without whom none of this would have happened.
